Dentures

Dentures are a common option for replacing teeth, whether there are just a few missing or an entire row. Dr. Robert A. Cederberg will prepare the mouth and the remaining teeth to receive the custom dentures to repair your smile, speech, and chewing functions.

Dentures are easily cleaned as they are removable. Each evening before bed, dentures are taken out and gently cleaned with a soft brush then placed in water overnight to keep them from drying out. Effervescent tablets are also recommended to help cleaning debris and bacteria off the dentures. In the morning, the dentures are replaced after giving the mouth some time to rest and go through its natural cleaning processes during sleep.

When dentures are initially placed, they are adjusted to make sure that there is no rubbing or irritation in the soft tissues of the mouth. Any time discomfort develops, return to the dentist’s office for additional adjustments. During regular dental check-ups, the dentures will be professionally cleaned and checked for any potential issues.

The type of dentures that you need will depend on how many teeth are missing and where. If an entire row of teeth is missing, a complete set of dentures are needed. A complete set of dentures would also be needed if the remaining teeth in one row are damaged or infected and need to be pulled. A complete set would be for the entire top row, entire bottom row, or even both rows.

A partial set replaces one or several missing teeth in one row. The remaining teeth hold the dentures in place and are removable like the complete set.
